The Canadian Honker Restaurant & Catering was established in 1984. It was a difficult task considering the owner, Joe Powers, was only 21 years old, and the location he had his heart set on had 8 restaurants fail in a 10-year period and he needed a loan from the bank to get started.

The 1987 location, seating 85.

His background and past working experience helped him convince the bank in helping him get started. Joe opened the Canadian Honker Restaurant in the front of a house that sat 40 people, in 1987 he built a new restaurant on the main floor of the Bell Tower Motel, located across the street from St. Mary's Hospital, (which is a Mayo Clinic Hospital and the largest private hospital in the world, it is truly an international location) this facility had a capacity of 85 seats.

The 1998 (and current) location, seating 165 guests.

In 1998 the Canadian Honker bought land, destructed houses and built a beautiful facility just up the street from the old one. THe restaurant is state of the art from the front door to the back door. This new facility is 8,000 square feet, (compared to the 3,600 in the prior restaurant) can seat 165 guests. Also featuring outdoor seating, a full service bar, live entertainment, new line of clothing and a parking lot with 80 stalls.

The name Canadian Honker came from the Canadian Geese, which Rochester attracts about 30,000 geese a winter and many sightseers.

We are conveniently open from 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. Sunday through Thursday, Fridays & Saturdays till 12:00 a.m.

We offer many extras at the Honker. Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner, Senior Citizens Menu, Children's coloring menu, Healthy menu, gluten free menu and daily lunch and dinner specials. Our food is homemade and always fresh, no frozen or fake food here! And don't forget about our Steak, Ribs and Seafood weekends on Friday and Saturday! You won't find this anywhere else!

Friday & Saturday evenings we have our live entertainment; Blues, Jazz and Soft Rock just to name a few.

We would also like to CATER to your every need. Our Catering business expands every year, with the new facility we are able to endure anything, size of groups is not a question anymore, we can definitely handle it. We have a beautiful brochure with many menu options and price variations to fit your needs.
